EV Chargers

Charging Level Basics: Plug It In Like a Pro

Level 1 Chargers

When you plug your EV into a standard household outlet (120 volts), you’re doing Level 1 charging. It’s the slowest but most accessible method. Think of it as charging your EV while sipping tea – it’ll replenish only 3-5 miles of range per hour. Perfect for plug-in hybrids, but not ideal for full battery-electric vehicles (BEVs).

Level 2 Chargers

This is where the magic happens. With a dedicated home EV charging station, you’ll get faster charging. Level 2 chargers operate at 240 volts and can add around 25 miles of range per hour. It’s like turbocharging your EV – great for BEVs and those who want to avoid 40-hour recharging marathons.

Level 3 "Superchargers"

The speed demon of EV charging. These stations deliver high-voltage DC power directly to your battery. Picture a pit stop during a race – you’ll get 80% charge in about 30 minutes. Perfect for road trips and busy EV drivers. These chargers are typically installed in high use public or commercial areas. Also some vehicles are not compatible with Level 3 chargers.
